Stick to your original plan and go with the red door if that's what you had your heart set on. There's nothing wrong with using the same color as your neighbor. I'll bet this looks really nice with your new dormers and porch!

With your home, I would have considered a shed dormer rather than three individual dormers since your windows on the lower level are not spaced evenly.

Decide if you want your dormers to be large enough to incorporate shutters too.

Since you have the room, I would also add shutters to either side of your front door.

Keep the red. Is the neighbors house exactly like your to the last detail? I would guess not, so keep to your original plan.

Nooooo, please don't do shutters on the front door. In the northeast, larger shed dormers are usually saved for the back of the house and I wouldn't do one on the front of your house.
