Wide vs standard random plank hardwood

I did also post this in the flooring forum, but know home dec is the popular one.

In our new build I am deciding between 2 hardwood floors. The first one, which has been my fav, is from Shaw. It's Grand Canyon Bright Angel Hand scraped hickory and that is the wide plank. The second one I like is Appalachian Colonial Manor hobnail hickory hand scraped, but this one is in the random standard sizes 4", 3" and 2 1/2" I believe.
I have never had real hardwood installed before, so I am new to making this decision. I have read about cupping, but is there anything else I should consider in choosing the wide or standard size? I do like the look of the wide plank better, but it is more expensive. The kitchen and family room are open to each other, so there is good space.

Also, any good online resources to purchase from that are reputable/good pricing? I did find the Shaw clear across the country for $3 per sq ft less from qualityflooring4less.com no tax, less than $100 to ship. It scares me though to order it from CA to PA

Thanks so much
