About Futon Covers

Do you know if the futon covers readily available allow one to "bend" the futon mattress in any direction?

that is, I have a very old futon frame (full size mattress) which bends along the short axis (picture a raised hospital bed) -- all the newer ones bend along the long axis (picture a couch).

So are the covers now available, which are always shown in the newer style going to work with mine?

If you have any other tips before I buy a new cover, lay 'em on me.

This may or may not be useful information for you. We have a futon in front of our tv in our family room. The kids often have snacks and drinks here and the futon cover gets very dirty very fast. I found the regular covers to be very hard to get off and on. I made a modified cover that is like a fitted bottom bed sheet. Slips off and on very easily.

understood, thanks; I've tried various items over the years (quilts, tablecloths, etc.), I'm ready for a "real" cover. I normally layer it with tapestries which are easier to remove and launder; but am looking for a new "base"

Violet, the one we had many years ago was just a big pocket with a zipper, no seams in the middle of the futon, only on the edge, so it could have been bent as you describe.
