Nervous about curtains!

akl_vdb

Thinking of getting these curtains made. Kind of scared of the pattern. But we're so boring otherwise and trying to get out of our comfort zone. A designer recommended this pattern (I had like 20 samples, and this was the first one I had ordered).

Do you think it's too much, or will be ok. I'm sure it will be beautiful. Talk me down, I think I almost put the order in!

Pic of the rest of the room. Need new end tables. And small pictures are gone. And I'll probably get a white or off white bedspread/duvet cover. Thanks!

I love the fabric! The light background color will be very nice against your wall. The other colors would be fun to pull out for your bedcovering. Maybe you could have matching European pillow shams made for the bed or a large bolster pillow. Congrats-it looks perfect with your wall color.

Don't be nervous at all, they'll be your favorite items in the room. Patterned curtains add so much interest to a room. You're going to love them, I do.

What kind of curtain? If it will be a drape, then don't look at the fabric flat, but gather it some....you'll see that the pattern becomes more just patches of color....I think it will be very nice.

It will be a drape, pinch pleat. Made by the company in the link in my original post. So kinda mail order custom :)

daisychain01- I added this to my bookmarks to hopefully remember! I hear good things about them, so I'm hoping it will go smoothly.

I think they'll look beautiful, too -- I love your wall color with the fabric. Here's a old/classic blog post from Joni of Cote de Texas about curtains. She has lots of beautiful examples of print & solid curtains and also has definite opinions about length & amount of fabric to use.

Thanks for the link ashef. The window is 93" across, and they suggested a rod 109", so 8 inches beyond, and will be 90" long plus a rod and rings/hooks. (8 foot ceilings). I think that follows the new rules!
    So excited now!

I don't know how much fabric you need, but I bought mine at Fabric Guru. They have 35 yds left, at $16.95/yd.

Thank yo uso much gracie01, if I knew how to sew, I'd be golden :) I did bookmark the site for odds and ends like recovering benches. I am in Canada, so now we have that pesky exchange rate as our $ isn't at par anymore :(

If you wanted to see the whole pattern, you could do roman shades. You may want blackout lining.

Ordered them and am so excited thanks to all the love on here :) I'm going to get the hardware from a local fabric store as it was just too much there. I'll keep you posted, they said it would be 4-6 weeks, I'll get contacted as they get mailed, and my cc won't be charged until they are mailed.

The fabric and wall color are just beautiful! I am anxiously awaiting your big reveal as I am also looking for curtains and found several fabrics that I liked at the site that you linked.

I think they'll be great! Really good choice and it looks great with the wall color.

And I agree with a PP that some of the coordinating fabrics would be great for bed pillows. ;)

I love it and I think you will too!

I bought some paisley drapes last week at Pier One Import. It's a very busy fabric with lots of colors, but I love them!

Eeep, I think they are at the post office to pick up! I got the email on May 9 that they were being delivered. I will pick them up tomorrow and see how it goes! I also need to run and pick up some hardware.

daisychain01- wanted to update on my purchase! Ordering from Tonic Living went smoothly. I wouldn't hesitate to order from them again (and think I will for a roman blind thing for my kitchen perhaps).

    Updated pic!
I also posted this as a separate thread, then remembered that I had to update about the company!
