Repairing Damage from Burst Pipe... New Floors, Finally

All during this basement renovation we have been repairing damage from the frozen and burst water pipe. It happened the night before the basement reno was to start... who says Mother Nature doesn't have a sense of humor?

Anyway, carpet and wood floors have been pulled up, drywall replaced, and a very heavy iron baluster and railings have been removed for the floor replacement.

The wood floors are done except for the master bedroom, and I am happy with the outcome---they look exactly like the ones they replaced.

I will be so happy to get these covered sofas back where they belong!

Wow..that was quite a bit of damage. They did a great job with the floors..they are beautiful as is the rest of your house. I know you will be so glad when everything is done....and the workers are gone! lol

Ooh I like your wall color in the first picture! Congrats - nice to be back where you were but boy that must have been something to go through. Covering sofas did not even cross my mind during our renovations (what a concept!). Lug downstairs, sort of cover, lug back up....

Your floors are gorgeous, and I like your wall color too. Very smart to cover your furniture. We didn't cover all of ours and I'm still cleaning dust out of crevices.

Believe it or not, the floor guys covered it. Before they started Handy Guy and I packed up everything like lamps, vases, objets d'art, and moved the boxes to the dining room to prevent accidental breakage. All that was left were the large pieces. They actually took most of the artwork off the walls, worried it would vibrate and break, and covered the furniture.

Thanks for those kind remarks on the color green. We started out with a Benjamin Moore color and ended up with a custom color after experimenting with 14 quarts of greens, finally mixing it ourselves with the closest green and dollops of white and gray.
