Your tile work sounds pretty.

In my opinion, houses which have a pronounced exterior style are "happiest" when the inside style acknowledges and reflects it. Everything doesn't really have to match, but if the entire interior is done in a different style than the outside, it can be jarring. (shrugs)

I live in the DC area and probably 90% of homes are colonial. We should all have traditional interiors? Do what makes you happy on the inside...you have to look at it everyday!

I take your point. And I agree that people should decorate their interiors in a way that they like and that makes them happy.

that said, if I stepped into a house that was colonial on the outside, and on the inside it was aggressively tuscan, or ultra modern or something -- yeah it would be weird. Transitional or electic would be a better choice.

As to the OP, your tile choices don't sound too bad. Pictures would help. But it does sound like you are floundering a bit to find a personal style that works for all the rooms in your house.
