Help with bathroom mirror/decor

Hello all. I don't post often but read these boards daily. This is our frist home and basically first time renovating and decorating anything.

For weeks I have been agonizing over this tiny powder room mirror. I cannot find anything that speaks to me, and I don't even know which direction to go in. I know that i don't want the bathroom overly feminine or too trendy, but it needs a wow factor.

Here are pictures of the bathroom and a few mirrors that I found. Any suggestions would be a great help!!

TIA
Stacy

My DH made a simple mirror frame for our guest bath for me, I purchased a stock mirror at Lowe's, and silverleafed the frame. I love the warmth it gives to the room, and it plays off the chrome fixtures nicely. It's very inexpensive and easy to do, you can select the size you want, and if you decide later to change it, you don't have too much invested. You could also just buy a simple already-framed mirror and silverleaf it.

Very pretty room.

I love the frameless with the beveled glass. Lovely!

Love the last one with the silvery frame!

I really like the last mirror you posted--- the old silver vibe is almost an echo of the marble sink....love that!

I think the tile and sink are wow factor enough, though, and it looks like you need some white painted wood in that room. How about one of the pottery barn type mirrors with the crown moulding ledge at the bottom ? Or the cabinet type mirror that is white painted wood and the door is a framed mirror. Usually the door catch is a nickel or chrome vintage-looking knob. I'm on my iPad and can't post photos, sorry!

IF it were me I'd go to some garage sales/thrift stores/antique stores and look for a large mirror in a frame I like. Don't worry about the finish you can always
paint it white or silver. You've got a nice antique /modern look going and I think tying it up with a large mirror would finish it off nicely.

Absolutely gorgeous bathroom. Based on your other choices, I think anything you pick will look terrific.

Pretty bathroom! What about a pivot mirror in a chrome finish?

I'm drooling over the last one, you have a gorgeous bathroom. Orrrrr you could do what Carol said and buy a large wood framed mirror, even if it's new or you could use something like the one attached below. The wider mirror will bring in more light and fills in the blank wall over the toilet.

Here is a link that might be useful: mirror

Wow thank you all for the suggestions. I had also toyed around with doing a series of maybe 3 mirrors along the wall, but I worry that it might be too much. I love the pivot mirror idea, but I'm a looking for more of a statement.

do you think the last one is too gold for the space? the faucet and sink are polished nickle.

The last one is nice, but mainly for the finish on the frame. I think it would be better if it were elongated or oval.

If you found one just the right size, you could faux finish the frame to be similar to what's there.

Those frameless mirrors have appeared in the last 434,898,798 Pottery Barn catalogues.

How much do you want to spend? Carvers' Guild has great mirrors. Silver would work well with nickel.

This one is available in "silver leaf" (they really use aluminum:

This reminds me of your tile accent.

I'm a more is less kind of gal and think the plain with a bevel would be lovely. Any shape just no frame.

I like the last mirror (square), I don't think it is too gold for the space. Second choice round hanging mirror. Lovely bathroom.

Thanks Marcolo... they do have beautiful mirrors, I checked the website and they only sell to the trade. West elm has a similar one to the last photo.. I love it (the west elm version) but it has a dark bronze trim, which I don't think will work with my space.

Beautiful bathroom. Love the mosaic tile and paint color.

I think a square or rectangular mirror would complement the round elements you already have in the room.

RE: Help with bathroom mirror/decor

How about this one? I think it compliments the older feel of some of the bathroom fixtures, the curves of the faucet and handles, and picks up some of the warmer tones in the mosaic tile. I think you could consider hanging this either direction

Fifi etched mirror

Also remember that you can find a pix frame that you like, at places like Hobby Lobby or a frame shop, and have a mirror added.

Your powder room has many WOW factors!! Your frame-less choices do not live up to the rest of the room IMHO. So far the only option I see worthy, is the final offering from marcolo.

A Venetian mirror would be pretty. There are all sorts of variations on that theme. You might be able to find them in consignment stores they were huge some years ago. Everyone had to have one. I love them. I have one but it's really big and so is in the attic, looked great in our last house.

Thanks Sarakat, I will look at venetian mirrores, I have seen a few, but they all have been so over the top gold.

Arcy, I agree that I need more of a statement with the mirror, that's why I'm having such a hard time. i do love the previous idea of using an oversized mirror over the sink/toilet.. but I also worry that it will overwhelm the space.
I like this one.. but it is 28' wide, my console sink is only 24"

Is it ok to go with a mirror larger than the sink stand? or should it be the same size or smaller?

RE: Help with bathroom mirror/decor

Assuming it is the right size, the one Les found looks like the perfect compliment to everything else in the room. My second choice would be the last one posted by twn85, though obviously it won't work if it is the wrong size.

I don't think I would like one huge mirror spanning the wall. I do think it would overwhelm the space.
