art over the toilet

i'm getting a toilet, one of those short ones, that stands about 22 inches. with my older toilet, it stood about 29" which i think most are. i always put some sort of art above the toilet and it looked real nice and in scale. now that im getting one (not ordered yet) that is short, how do manage to have the art in scale? assuming the art is about 24" h. you should also know that the toilet is against its own wall and the wall is 38" wide. my ceiling height is average and i have about a 6" crown molding and a 6" base molding. do i hang 2 pictures vertically? do i just get a longer (bigger) piece of art? im into traditional but as im aging, i'm appreciating a leaner, less cluttered look. somewhere along the line i've learned that whenever you are placing art above a (whatever)...toilet in this case, you can go as low as 6" over the object, but the art shouldn't have more than 1/2 its size of blank space above it (or below it for that matter) Geeze, i hope that makes sense lol. anyway, any thoughts? (maybe i'll just rethink the short toilet idea..but i do like the look). thanks

While I dont have the shorter toilet, I do have 10 foot ceilings so what I did was find a piece of art that was taller, I think mine is 42" tall.

I think I would hang the art at eye level regardless of the height of the toilet. You will always be looking at the art while standing and not while sitting.

But I think I'd go for a landscape or a still life rather than a portrait. Men aren't going to like having someone stare at them.

I would hang a really nice landscape portrait with really nice beefy frame. So unexpected!

Actually, I have a nice female nude hanging over ours! It's an original pastel sketch (semi-abstract) so not really like she's looking at you...

As with all art -- Find the piece you really like and hang so it's best viewed. If it's too short, place something tall on the tank to partially fill the visual void.

thanks for the suggestions. sweeby, yeah, i thought of that (putting something on the tank thats tall) but really i was hoping not to put more "stuff" in the room. thing is, i need a toilet (has to be a kohler, long story) that is not so deep coming out from the wall. the shallowest one is also the one with the short tank and plus its a one piece and i kinda had my heart set on a one piece. another one kohler has thats not quite as shallow is a 2 piece toilet with normal height tank. i really have to order this week and i've been putting it off because of this stupid thing. i know i'm being ridiculous but this is the first time i'm getting a new bathroom and want everthing to look great and not have any regrets.
