I think darker chairs or even painted chairs would look much nicer than trying to match your new table.

I have an antique cherry table that I refinished, an antique oak hutch that was an anniversary gift from DH 15 years ago. I used two sets of mismatched chairs with it for many years but they were deteriorating to the point that the wood glue no longer held them together. Last August I ordered chairs from EA ina French Grey and I love how everything looks together even though none of it matches.

I am attaching a pic and apologize in advance to those of you that have seen it so many times that your sick of seeing it.

I was planning on painting my chairs a deep dark navy but am now seriously thinking about a French Grey....

I really love the color. It is a very warm grey and looks great with warm wood tones!
