If you turn it over and look at the underside of the seat, you should be able to determine if the seat is removable. If it is, remove, the existing fabric,( not good to leave, it may be stained and smell) When you attach new fabric, double over the edges before you staple them in place. Doubling them over does 2 things, hides the cut edge, and makes a stronger fabric edge to staple to. You can mark the screw holes on the fabric or just feel for them to re-insert the screws to hold seat in place. I've done it many times. Choose a longer length for staples. Good luck, it's a good looking bench and looks to be worth the price. Make sure it's not loose in the joints where wood trim and legs fasten to each other.
