| Urgent b/c I am thinking of whether or not to cancel my order.
W/o going into too much detail which is irrelevant, I think, the question is: Would it be OK to you mix side chairs with arm chairs at a round kitchen/breakfast table if they are by the same manufacturer and have the same color? Thank you! |

| How big is the table and how many chairs will fit at it? |
|
| I think it will look odd at a round table. |
|
| Table 46", 4 chair (2+2). |

| Since there is no "head" of a round table, I would have all of the chairs be the same. |
|
| I personally wouldnt do it, I agree that it would look odd at a round table. If your table was rectangular that would be different, imo. |
|
| I agree with everyone else, it would look odd. |

| Thank you, everyone! I am keeping my order of side chairs. It is hard to picture anything w/o actually seeing it, sigh. I liked the armchairs better (on the pix) but they were not available. It is good to know that I have an option of making the final decision (whether or not to get the armchairs) after seeing the side ones, especially b/c I might have a space issue. BTW, I was going by this (see link below) but couldn't find the link when posting the question. Thanks again! |

| The link was great, Eleena. Did you notice, though, that there were no examples of mixing 2 arm and 2 side chairs with a round table? Somehow the 2 arm and 2 side combination doesn't work that well with a round table. Now, if you wanted to do four different chairs, that would be eclectic! LOL! |
|
| Weren't the examples hoosiergirl linked two of each? I thought they looked nice. |

| Hmmm, I had no idea my dining chairs had "looked odd" now for 30 years. ;-D When we bought our dining furniture we bought 2 armchairs and 4 side chairs. The table is 48" round and has 2 leaves so becomes oval. Years ago we often used it with the 2 armchairs (for DH and I) and 3 side chairs for the kids. Never thought it looked "odd" at all. IMO this is a very usual configuration of chairs and armchairs are so much more comfortable. Even when we have only 2 guests now we sometimes use 2 of each. The only downside I see is that hosts have 'better' chairs than guests and to remedy that I've sometimes used two other non-matching armchairs when we have 2 guests. Sometimes with more guests I mix it up even more by adding another dining armchair that matches nothing else! When Grands visit I even use a bench with back for 2 to sit together which they seem to like - it doesn't match anything else either! It's very informal around here tho. Personally, I'd be more tempted to think that someone who only had side chairs just didn't want to spend the extra money for armchairs. Of course you have the option of buying 2 armchairs later. We've occasionally had 6 people around the table without using the leaves altho it's quite 'cosy' - works OK if some are children tho. I don't see the difference in whether it's a kitchen/breakfast table or dining table in case that's a consideration for some. So interesting to hear other opinions. |

| That link had some very individual choices featured. It just goes to show us the bottom line is doing what YOU like. What fits your needs. The one who lives there gets to decide!! |

| I think hoosiergirl was kind to show you examples of how it can definitely work. Two arm chairs and two side chairs at a round table looks balanced... (I have 6 chairs at a round table, and I have wondered how that would work... since the arm chairs wouldn't be across from each other.) Since each pair mirror each other, I think it would look lovely... |
|
| I have 2 Windsor arm chairs and 2 side chairs at my 44" cherry and black Bob Timberlake breakfast room table and it doesn't look odd at all. It's the way he meant for the table and chairs to be and they were displayed like that in his store. |

| Hoosiergirl, I LOVE that last white set you linked! When we first bought this house, I seriously considered that style for the dining room. And thanks for all the links, that helped ease my anxiety, LOL. OK, full disclosure. I always decorate according to what *I* like and - interestingly - I have not been wrong, not once. Everything that I felt I just had to have, even if I did not know where I was going to use it, worked out fine. In this particular case, I decided (upon careful consideration) that the combo would work. The thing is, I have a certified ID in my family (though not living with us) but we had not had a chance to discuss this. She called me earlier today, just when my order was about to be shipped out, and questioned my decision to mix the chairs. Well, I am not an expert and I had only seen the chairs on the pix. So, of course, I got a little "shaky". LOL. |

| Sorry, I posted before I was finished b/c I had to leave the computer and did not want to lose the post. I wish there were a "save draft" option. :-) Fun2BHere, Actually, I did see that the site did not a combo of 2 and 2 pictured. However, I think that these particular chairs I have in mind will work together b/c the armchairs are not just "side chairs with arms", they are different enough but also similar enough to create and "ensemble" so to speak. IDK, I am not yet entirely sure, I'll think some more when I get the order. Thanks again everyone for coming to rescue so quickly! |
