Interior door knobs, yes, it's home decor, lol

UPDATE! Added a pic of our hallway!

I am leaning toward Weslock Julienne Premiere Rosette.

I can't get the pic to post, but we have a long hallway on one side of our house where the bedrooms are. Also in the hallway, opposite the bedroom doors are 2 double door closets. We've been here 6 months and are in a place where I can finally get new doorknobs. What is here I just don't like, at all. Very industrial looking levers. To me it makes the hallway look like a hospital corridor. Hers a link to what we currently have

I want to get black, maybe ORB. Hubby doesn't want levers again so my choice is knobs only. My concern with ORB is if the finish would rub off over time. We had that happen to some kitchen cabinet knobs back in 2008. The finish started rubbing off after a year or so.

I'm on a tablet and wish I could post pics! All I can do are links. The house is 30 yrs old, we live in FL but I'd say it, or us, are more craftsman style.

Ok, here are the ones I am looking at;

Schlage

I really like this Baldwin one in ORB, seems to have nice details....

I don't know if I should get something with a larger plate to help break up the hallway. I may be doing that enough with changing the color, lol. I like the square/rectangle plates but wonder if it would be too much in a long rectangle hallway. Should I go with curved or round plates? Well, I posted this without much preparation, I'll try to see if I can post the pic of our hallway later.

I wanted to get some opinions on doorknobs in an area where you will see a lot of them : ). I want it to look nice. Oh, FYI, the doors are flat (no panels) and white. Being flat is another reason I want knobs with some pop.

I would love to get crystal doorknobs but they are so expensive!

When I built almost 6 years ago, I thought I wanted leaver style handles because my daughter had them, and I just plain liked them. However, when it came time to choose the hardware, I opted for the egg shape knobs(Yale), since I was told by the builder they 'can be troublesome and break easy'.

I also chose the ORB finish since I thought it looked more 'sophisticated'(better than just nice!)and would probably have a nice patina as it aged, which after 6 years looks like new.

As for a square vs round backplate, mine are the simple round, but am thinking of re-doing to the longer more 'old fashion' style, just cause I like the look.

Hi! We have the Schlage Siena egg shaped knobs in ORB throughout our home. They have held up beautifully in the 2 1/2 years we have been here...not a bit of wear. In contrast, the levers on our Jeld-Wen French doors that lead to the covered porch have shown a TON of wear. So much that I have sent an email to the manufacturer.

So if you go with that Schlage selection you posted in ORB, it will hold up nicely for you. Oh, and I love the backplate on it...very pretty!

OT-- I think someone posted this here, but in Vancouver they are banning door knobs in new builds. Crazy!

Here is a link that might be useful: door knobs

I'm on the laptop now, ipad hinders me but its easier, lol!

FYI: I overthink things all the time so you just have to bear with me. Sorry folks! lol

Hubby doesn't want levers because they catch on his pant pockets sometimes. Valid point for dummy knobs on those 4 closet doors. It took me a while to adjust to the idea of knobs but I like egg shape the most.

I'm liking the Weslock Julienne in ORB. Its a bit over budget.

Then I ran across this design but haven't found much on the brand. I like that it comes in solid black.

I want to stay in the vintage/old fashioned look. I don't want a Tuscan style. Suggestions would be deeply appreciated! I am spending way too much time thinking about this but I want the hallway to look great. Its kind of sad that I don't even have anything hung up, lol.

When the house was being built, several of the workers commented about the hardware, including the hinges on doors, saying it had the character of an older home. Maybe it was the arched doorways also, but the ORB hardware has a certain presence that seems to be missing in the brushed nickel and others.
