House porn

This recently listed house is a couple miles down the road from me The decor in the house is high class hotel but the architectural details and the setting are stunning. The price is stunning too! If we have a hurricane during high tide this property is in big trouble.

If you have 5 minutes, be sure to check out the clip from the TV show where it was featured:

I agree! I watched the video, clicked on various links, but didn't see the price listed - can you share?

It is breathtaking and i see what you mean about the hotel-like decor. But all the talk about working with nature and allowing the natural beauty to remain is disingenuous to me. I understand what he had to do to achieve his vision but just for starters that bridge has to have a huge impact on that gorgeous marsh.

I didn't realize that there wasn't a price in my link. I saw the house when I was nosing around Trulia and it caught my eye because it is listed for $16,880,000. That is really high, even for around here, especially because it is not ocean front.

Nice work if you can get it!

I agree with dlm that his manmade landscaping didn't really reflect the natural surroundings...a thousand loads of fill which not only altered his surroundings, but also that from where they came. Harvesting 300 year old cypress trees is not exactly eco friendly, nor is his very large footprint for all of his buildings.

But green wasn't his goal. Frankly, if I was sinking that much money into a home, I'd certainly expect it to last a lot longer than 100 years he mentioned several times.

And while he was building for friends and family, the video sure looked like the stiffest and most artificial of get togethers...hardly a comfy relaxing get together.

But the house is certainly fabulous, the interiors were very well done and the setting is lovely. At least he spent his money with taste, unlike some other ultra expensive places we've seen....

I watched the aerial video and clicked both links, but there were no house pictures...??

With respect to the location--- it is beautiful, but I have one word for the homeowners: mosquitoes.

    It's not a house; it's a small hotel.

The house in the second set of pictures is very similar to the house I linked. It's interesting that they are on opposite coasts. Although I'm pretty sure that the owners of the Hawkins Island house are not from around here

I have to say that I'm a little disturbed by the level of detail in the Cote de Texas post. Everyone is entitled to their own fascinations but I wonder what the housewife person would think if she saw the post?
