Where to look for chandelier? What am I overlooking?

| I need a new chandelier for my formal dining room. I have "antique" walnut DR furniture, circa 1930, which I picked up on CL last winter. There is a picture of it below, if that helps. Ceiling height is standard, 7 feet. The walnut furniture makes me think I want a dark metal finish, but not as dark as oil rubbed bronze.
Limiting my choices is the fact that, from almost any line of sight, is the foyer chandelier, my husband’s pride and joy, which is shiny gold with crystals ("just like the one mom and pop used to have…"). Before we hung that and attached the crystals I coated the shiny metal of the frame with an umber wash so it wouldn’t be too bright. He loves it, so it stays. I’m thinking if I pick a bronzy color with some gold accents that would work well enough.
I have checked HD, Lowe’s, Menard’s; and various stores like that. Local lighting stores are too expensive. I have more things to renovate so $300 is all I think I can spend. Even that will require some persuasion on my part.
I really didn’t want to buy it without seeing it in person, but I’ve looked now off and on for a year, and have found nothing in my price range locally. I need to find something soon before spring arrives, when we are due to do the woodwork and paint in that room.
So I guess online is it. Periodically I check Lamps Plus and Home Decorators, and I just found out about Overstock this week. Lamps Plus has something they call "Open Box," which is more discounted, but those things are not returnable, which scares me.
Anyplace else I could check? Thanks!

I'm right in the middle of picking out fixtures for our entire house(new build), and I'm having luck at Lighting Direct. I ordered all our faucets through them(FaucetDirect/same company), and I was extremely pleased with the prices and customer service. I'm also finding some good deals at LightingUniverse.com, LampsUSA.com, and LightingbyGregory but have never ordered from them before. I've read of others having good experiences with them here on the Lighting Forum. I would say too that even if you find something locally that you like that's not in your price range to google the model number and see how much less you can find it online. I've done this with several fixtures that we picked out at a local lighting design center our builder sent us to and have found them to be much cheaper from some of the stores I mentioned above.

how about checking out some 2nd hand stores in your area, or, Craigslist for a chandelier that will work? You could buy another brass chandelier and tone it down as you have your foyer chandelier?

Wow...what a beautiful dining set. OK...that table is screaming Tiffany to me. There are a lot of great ones on LP that would look good over your table in your price range...but sure the folks here can find a CL deal for you.

Have you checked Rejuvenation? I bought a lot of fixtures from them, very well priced. Got my chandy from Lamps Plus.

linnea your dining room set is gorgeous! What a wonderful find. I found my Restoration Hardware chandelier on ebay and saved a couple of hundred dollars. I've also had good luck on Craig's. Unfortunately, I'm drawn to chandy's that cost more than $300. so if I were in your position I'd probably find something used (or deeply discounted) before I'd buy something inexpensive that looks inexpensive. That table deserves something special.

There is a wonderful vintage lighting store in my area called Remember When. Here is their link. Maybe you can send them a photo of your dining set and then talk to the owner on the phone about what style fixture goes with that era. I'll bet he can then suggest fixtures from his store or keep an eye out for you. He buys old fixtures and then restores them. The shop is delicious to shop in! And the husband and wife owners are very nice, knowledgeable and helpful. http://www.remwhen.com/index2.ivnu

First of all, I’m so impressed to have so many responses! It was the first thing I saw when I sat down here. Thank you! I will check these out. I love tiffany but already have a lot of stained glass lamps (kitchen, living room, and family room). I think I need to give that a rest. The light going THROUGH the glass is definitely colored, too, which I don’t think I’d like on the table. I need more neutral light focused there. The line of sight with the crystal chandelier in the foyer is an issue there, too. There is a nice $$ lighting store in my area where I’ve gone to browse. They don’t use manufacturer stock numbers though: probably to prevent your looking it up and buying elsewhere. I don’t know if that typical or not. I fell in love with a stained glass table lamp there and had to hunt all over google searching before I stumbled upon the manufacturer and ordered from them.

Thanks again..I enjoyed browsing until way too late Tuesday night, and will do more tonight. I have copied favorite choices to a document and will print the best ones out and lay them on the DR table. I always have a hard time making up my mind (unless there's a deadline!. I figure I'll walk by them every day, and one by one will eliminate some. When I have it narrowed down, I'll post again and you can help me decide!

I just ordered a new chandelier for my dining room, yesterday, from the link I posted above, anxious to get it now, it's very different and I do like different, but should go great with my table, which I put a faux granite finish on, looks and feels like stone, but has thick glass over top, this lite has a stone finish, 5 lites, with metal shades. And best of all it was on sale, but did not order online, called 800# to ask a few questions, and was told if I ordered on the phone, she would take off 10%, free shipping, no tax...WOOHOO! great deal..have not liked the existing lite since we built and moved into this house..
