I personally think the pattern is too busy with the bedding.

Since you have some red accents, why not pull that into the rug. I briefly looked at your link - but didn't have time to search through the reds.

Your woodwork and floors are really nice and I think the right red would really warm up the space.

Janice - the bedding (duvet cover) will be white and just the skirt will be the buffalo check - not sure if that makes a difference in your response. The red/orange/blue/white quilt that you see is just a small quilt that is usually folded at the end of the bed or put away in the closet.

I would just do a solid navy blue skirt with the rug.

I would also do a solid navy. I think you will be glad to have a little spot of calmness for your son. Remember that you want this to be a space where he can wind down for the night. :)

The rug came today...unfortunately, though, I'm going to return it. The herringbone is super busy. My husband and I both got dizzy looking at it! Ha! Too bad, it was a nice rug.
