What's over your couch?

Posted by parsuzi (My Page) on

We have our couch against a wall (windows, doors and a big couch make it hard to float the couch) and I'm having a hard, hard time deciding what to hang behind it. I am not a "big painting behind the couch" person. Right now I have a bunch of black framed photos (art photos) in 8x10 frames back there. Will post a pic as soon as the light changes.

I had some floating PB shelves w/ the photos on them but our wall is wood painted (white) paneling and the irregularities in the wood prevented the shelves from hanging properly.

I hope some folks will post photos. I'm not a big painting person, either. We've been in this house a year and I went six months with nothing over the couch, deciding. Then I did an arrangement of woodblock prints, etc. that I had, but last week I decided I hated it and took them all down. So, it's empty caramel-colored wall, blah.

RE: What's over your couch?

here's a recent thread about what's over your couch, mainly pictures and paintings but check out the architectural plaques and a few shelves and sconces for inspiration.

I have a 45" x 70" mirror with a lovely decorative frame over my sofa.

I don't have a photo, but I have 3 reproduction vintage travel posters, all the same size, hanging in a row over the sofa.

I found an old antique mantel in the trash on the side of the road - I have it behind my couch and it looks so great! It adds a lot of architectural interest. Here is the link, scroll down.
