Options other than shutters

I'm struggling with a way to dress up the blandness of the windows on our renovated duplex to single family home. The windows don't really have any trim and I feel like doing shutters will look odd. There will be only 1 window on the first floor with shutters and on the upstairs portion really only the outer windows could take them. Anything I'm missing?

Yes...instead of shutters, add window trim. It will make a world of difference in the look.

I agree about adding some window trim. I think that some nice landscaping, new door color, a pair of pretty lights, and centered house numbers will create a great look for your home.

Porch accessories would also add to the appeal. Uniform interior window treatments seem necessary, too. Your house is looking great!

Good to hear that trim should help, thanks. We found out that operable, appropriately-sized shutters for our windows would be$1,000/pair so I think I have definitely convinced DH that we should wait on them. Hopefully once we get further into the process with the new door openings we will get more comfortable with the look.
