I wanted to add that while we realize that doing all the living areas & kitchen in Amtico could hurt re-sale, this is just one of those things as a wheelchair family that we accept as we learned some time ago that we have to think about the now as far as what works for us and worry about the later if there is a later.

What I don't want, though, is flooring that looks "cheap" (although I've not really read anything about Amtico having a cheap look or feel to it).

I've been to a lot of houses for sale in our community over the last year and in many, laminate wood floors are touted but they haven't been of the best quality. I've seen quite a bit of buckling, too.

The samples of Amtico that I've seen have been far superior to my untrained eye.

Also - how does the pricing compare to installing hardwoods or a high quality wood laminate or tile?

I don't have any experience with Amtico, so I can't give you any opinion or review on it...but, have you checked out Marmoleum? I've heard people rave about it, and it seems like it would be perfect for your situation.

I have not used it recently but I grew up in a house that had Amtico in the entry, front and side halls, kitchen and laundry and it wore like iron. It was in place for 30 years and only replaced when the icemaker leaked and they had to repair the subfloor. It was worn by then, but the new vinyl that replaced it looked almost as worn in about 7.

It is not a budget flooring but to my knowledge the quality is still very high.
