If you are one that likes a uniform look from outside you might want to, at the very least, put blinds on all windows at the front of your home. Of course if some of those are in rooms with windows on the side, you'd need to put blinds on those windows too.

We have solar screens on our home so I don't have to worry about such things because you can see no more than shadows of what's inside our home. That's another option. It protects your home from solar fading.

You could certainly do different treatments on different windows even in the same room, so long as they go...for example draping large window and roman blinds on the smaller one.

You might consider roller shades in the bedrooms. That's what I did. I have drapes and valances and the shades hide underneath. I pull them at night for light control, privacy and warmth. During the day, you don't even know they're there. And you don't have to worry about the matching from the outside as you don't see them.

I hadn't thought of roller shades and I also hadn't thought about how it would look from the outside (I was only concerned with the inside.) So thank you to both of you for your advice.
