How old is your son?

My son is 8, but has a teenage brother and sister. I'd say his taste is more in line with a teen room. His room was navy blue on top and white wainscoat on the bottom. We were both ready for a change. The room is primed...but I can't decide on wall color.

Why not let the 8 year old decide? It's just paint? And one can always close the bedroom door if it does not flow with the hall color scheme?

Not to start a debate, but not everyone is ok with a child picking paint colors for different reasons.

I'd pick a neutral paint color, but I know there are many out there. Will you have any other accent colors in the room? Is there a theme? What's the flooring/color?

the color issue for a kid's room does start to spill over to people's opinions on parenting and control vs individuality...

but, what you can do is choose maybe 5 colors together and then have the child have the final 'say'... unless he really, really doesn't care...

i have 3 kids also and my youngest especially would NOT have been happy with RP or a tame blue/gray!! :)

Thanks for the input. Really just looking for help selecting the right wall color. The rest of the design - including my son's preferences - has been addressed.

I don't know....as much as I love grey, I think with the bedding and a black bed, that will not be enough contrast. Unless you got a grey with a slight color tint to it. Like BM Meditation (slightly green tint) or Bennington Gray (it's kind of a tan grey with a hint of green). Both look great with black, white, and grey. I have them both in my home.

Or blue-grey would be another good choice.
