So, what next? Window treatments, area rugs, furniture - yikes!

Slowly working through a whole house remodel. Painting and light fixtures are done. I need to get window treatments, area rugs, and furniture for living room, dining room and family room. I probably need a bit of art work too.

Problem is....we want to move in soon. I can use our old furniture in the meantime, but I do want some window treatments for privacy. Should I start with that? I assume that is is better to make a plan with everything and then purchase, but that is not practical unless we want to delay our moving date.

I will have questions for specific rooms soon, but I was curious if there is an easier way to go about this.

You can always buy some Redi-Shades to tie you over.

Just get the cheapo paper shades.

I'd do a temporary window covering, move in the old furniture and move in. You will have a much better understanding of what you need and want after you live there awhile.

We got some inexpensive linen curtains at Ikea for our bedrooms until we make some other decisions. Unfortunately for some of our windows we will likely have to go custom because the sizes are odd.

how much fun to be redoing everything...but save your $$ until you have been in the place at least till spring to judge just what colors more sunshine brings...dd painted her lr a wonderful peach...until the summer sun turned her lr into a aweful pink! and some of your older wood pieces might fit in (and save you) by being refinished or painted...

this is a great time to start your baggy dÃÂ©cor...collecting color chips, floor samples and even fabric samples (check in the zippered section of cushions for a piece you can snip off) the baggy stays in the car so you're always prepared...

You've gotten some really good advice! Living in the house will definitely give you an idea of what will work and how you use the space. Have fun and good luck!
