| What could be more fun than decorating a baby's room? You can really let the creativity flow. Babies benefit immensely from visual stimulation.
Try a wallpaper border:
Or go with wallpaper:
~ You can buy stencils, or wallies, wallpaper, or wallpaper murals. You can print something off your computer, or use something from a coloring book and project it on the wall, outline it, then paint it. Your library may have some books on how to paint children's murals. You don't have to have immense talent to make a baby's room really interesting, and it doesn't have to be perfect. Your baby won't be born an art critic! Multiple colors, shapes, horizontals, verticals, diagonals, curves -- all are good for your little one's mental and visual development.
(Please don't tie bows on a crib; baby can choke on them.)
~~ If that doesn't strike your fancy, here are some rooms without murals:

| Ok, after looking, I have to admit that Target has a couple of things that would work in that shabby chic room! |

|
| Perky, that's a darling room. I've been meaning to start a "children's rooms" thread. Bungalow, thanks for letting me know you're enjoying the thread! |

| Oceanna-- Thank you for all of your work on the "eye candy" threads. Don't think it's not appreciated! For me, it takes time to study each one--I just made it to this one. I'm getting all kinds of inspiration. I (who mostly lurk) would love to see a "children's rooms" thread! And anything else you think of! Great work. |

| I love those nurseries!! I wish this thread had been around 3 years ago :) I would love to share what we did for my daughter's room. This is when it was almost finished. |
|
| Christy, that is darling! I love the ants across the window sill -- lol. Did you paint the tree yourself? The room is bright and imaginative. It's a wonderful place and I'll bet your little daughter just loves it. |

| Thank you, Oceanna :) We traced the trees from a coloring book onto a transparency and used an overhead projector to trace the image onto the wall. It is such a fun room, we all love it!! Just wanted to point out, the room was not finished in the pictures. The plug was covered and the shade strings secured before baby came :) The baby in the pic is my neice, just visiting!! Christy |

| Oceana, thanks so much for all your work! I am getting ready to paint and decorate the bedroom of my granddaughters. You've given me soooo many wonderful ideas! They are 4 and 1 yr. old. And the room is small so I loved seeing the different bed ideas. Thanks again! I truly appreciate all your efforts on this gallery side. Love all the other threads you keep going, too. : ) Diana |

| Christy2828, and Diana, my pleasure! I'm so thrilled to know you're getting inspiration from these darling pictures, and that you're also enjoying my other threads. I hope you'll both post pics of your rooms when you're done, and congrats on your pregnancy, Christy! Happy baby!! Here are a few more pics: |

| The toddlers room are very inspiring. Actually I pick one of the designs to renovate my daughters room. |
|
| This is my son's room. To explain it... I wanted a 1930's Earnest Hemmingway type safari tent. In African safari tents (of today) they have mixed antiques with modern, typically fur rugs or old asian pieces, the walls and ceiling are "tent (canvas)" and they are held in place with a wood structure at the corners. In my dream tent, if you pull back the tent sides, you would find all of the happy animals of the jungle looking to come play. Because it's a 3 year old's room...the faces had to be friendly, and some of the animals were his favorite at the time (which is why we have lady bugs, chickens and monkeys all in the same jungle). So here it is: This is a pic from the window side looking to the closet (those painted doors) and the giraffe (it's eating a flower). I made half a dozen huge pillows for him to play on the floor with in the future from different faux fir animal prints: Close up of his monkey and his bedside table (a stack of antique trunks and a wonderful lantern light from target) The wall opposite the end of the bed with the friendly lion: A better look at the giraffe: The ceiling is fabric, stapled to the ceiling above and then lowered 7" at the wall side to make it feel more tent like. We don't have spiders here and it's hung tight enough to dust with a vacuum :) |
|
| On oceanna's first post, the third to the last room picture (pink, brown girl room). Anyone have a guess as to the paint color. I am looking for a nice brown like that. |
|
| Gardenlover, thanks! Oh, how about posting a picture of your DD's room? Iggy, oh my gosh, girl! That room is beyond fabulous! Did you do all that painting? What is that in the center on the ceiling, that looks like bamboo? The room is a perfect fantasy jungle play land for a little one. Jlpearce, I have no clue. Did you open two browsers, one to that picture and one to the Browns thread(s) in the gallery? That might give you some ideas. Otherwise, I'd go collect some brown paint cards at the store and bring them home and compare them to what you're seeing in that picture on your monitor. |
