Yourself and your Home

Okay this is the second time I have the read the request of posting pictures so I will start this thread and others can follow if they wish. This way we can associate the house with the face and maybe be able to remember them together, or at least it may help me. I will post my pictures later you go ahead and start. Linda

This is me with the man who was like a grandpa to me. I just found it on my computer so I figured I'd use it.

Here is our house as it looked on inspection day. There are lots more pictures there.

Here is our house today and what we have done and are planning on doing in the nearish future.

kgw, it's an awfully sweet picture.....
For some reason, I keep forgetting that your home is the one with the windows I love so much; it's so charming..

Since I started this I should add my photo was waiting to get a more recent picture of myself. Hasn't happened I can't get the camera far enough away to get a self portrait. This is a few years old.
Below is the link to the house.

Here I am with my brother enjoying a "small" beer while visiting Lambeau Field in Green Bay (home of the Packers--we're fans) during a family reunion in Wisconsin last summer (in a beautiful home on Lake Michigan). Although I have a goofy smile on my face, I just had one of those yards of beer...honest. My husband refused to go because he's a Bear fan.

Mitch, your home gets more beautiful each time I see it. Will you post the Condo pictures?

 o
RE: Yourself and your Home

I'm Anita, aka ColorMeConfused, and I tried and tried to find a recent photo, but somehow I'm always the one BEHIND the camera, and on the rare occasions when someone else is taking the pics, I'm the one with her face turned away and her bony a$$ facing the camera. This photo is fairly old and I had to scan it in; I know it's an old picture because Santa and I haven't rapped in a while. I asked my 12-year old if I still look like that, and she said yes, so I'm putting my faith in a pre-adolescent's opinion. If I can figure out how to take a more recent self-portrait, I'll try it.

I think Santa is laughing AT me and not WITH me because I told him what I expected for Christmas!

 o
RE: Yourself and your Home

Anita, I think that santa is super thrilled to have you there !!!!!!

Mona, I have to take pictures of the condo soon; I did not bring my camera this week but I will next week; decor wise, it's not complete but I would like to show a before and after of the kitchen since I kept the original cabinets from the 80's but changed everything else.... I'm quite happy with the way it turned out;
LInda, I love that picture of you and ds; I remember seeing it last year.....
Mary Jane, your pic looks like a painting, it's great !!!

 o
RE: Yourself and your Home

Whoa, sorry for the thread drift but Mitch, I just clicked on your home renovation album and I'm having trouble picking my jaw up off the floor. Your house is spectacular! How long did that renovation take and did you use much of the existing structure? If you had to do it over do you think it would have been easier to scrape the old house? The side-by-side photos sure beat anything I've seen on home remodel TV shows -- okay, Extreme Makeover: Home Edition may come close. ;) The whole house turned out so beautifully. You've got a great sense of style and I love how you had the courage to use those whimsical colored tiles in the slate floor. And what a great location -- can Denver really be that lush and green or is that Quebec?

 o
RE: Yourself and your Home

helen, thanks for the compliment, we are in Montreal suburbs, we were moving back from a 2 year period in Denver.
Tearing it down would have meant it was a new home instead of a renovation and it would have been taxed an extra 15% at the end and it would have removed certain zoning rights already in place.

The whole project took one year in all, although we moved in the home after 8 months, the interior was liveable by then.
Thanks again for your comments.

RE: Yourself and your Home

Monablair,

Your home is lovely. You have a flair for classic, elegant decor. I am looking for the same chair style as in your sunroom. What do you call them? What kind of places should I look?

Thanks!

 o
RE: Yourself and your Home

Oh sure. Ya think I'm gonna post my mug here after seeing all you gorgeous gals? NOT! hehe.

 o
RE: Yourself and your Home

Mona,
Love your paint colors. What's the color in your upstairs bath? Love it.

Thanks,

Druid

 o
RE: Yourself and your Home

I don't have a house pics page yet, or many recent pics, but here's DH and I a few years ago, and last weekend, enjoying our favorite weekend activity.

 o
RE: Yourself and your Home

Druid, I don't know where Mona is (Mona, you out there?), but if her upstairs bath is green, it's Benjamin Moore Olive Branch. Mona inspired me to paint my master bath in this color, and we love it.

 o
RE: Yourself and your Home

For some reason, I haven't been coming to the Gallery. I've been everywhere else, though.
CMC is right, the green is Olive Branch and it's the same green you see throughout the house in various rooms. I love it! And it looks gorgeous in CMC's home, too.
As far as the chairs, if you're talking about the 2 armless folding caned chairs..they're from the '50's and I don't know where you'd find others. If it's the single chair in the corner, that one is also from the '50's but I've seen similar ones in the Broyhill furniture line.
I need to make sure I check in more often. Thanks for asking about our home.

 o
RE: Yourself and your Home

Thanks so much for the inspiration. I love the green. Thanks again, Mona, it's beautiful.

Can someone tell me how to copy in pics? Tried opening in a photo software, copying, but then I don't get a paste function here.

Thanks.

My sister and I (and our other sister and brother and all the grandkids) were dressed identically because we did a musical number at the party--everyone had just enough wine in them to find it hilarious. Great party.

RE: Yourself and your Home

Susan, your home is charming..just as you are.
A while back you (I think it was you) spoke about moving a laundry area either down to a basement or up to a window alcove. What did you finally do?

 o
RE: Yourself and your Home

How nice, Mona, thank you. I decided to leave the laundry machines in the basement for now, but to also leave the hook-up where it is upstairs in case it's needed later.

RE: Yourself and your Home

I have loved looking at this thread, and getting to know everyone here. It is so nice to be able to put faces (and homes!) with names. What a lovely, wonderful group...

Here is a fairly recent photo with my niece, and my home (a work in progress, as you can see from the paint swatch...).

Love seeing everyones pics! It's nice to put a face to the names. Mine is, unfortunately, from last year on my 20th anniv. cruise. I have long side bangs now; usually I'm the one taking the pictures, but I guess I should get an update! LOL!

mona, for some reason I clicked on Gallery this morning, lo and behold I came upon this wonderful thread; there are still a lot of active pictures and links.

As an update, the house I linked to above was sold as of september 14, 08, no longer is our, we had it for more than 7 years.
Most of the things in it are in storage or in my new condo.

 o
RE: Yourself and your Home

mitch, will you be posting pics of your new condo? I'm eager to see what you've done with your "new digs".

Also, I never saw any comments about your hand surgery. All went well, I hope.
