Generic color question...

Four years ago we bought our current home & inherited colors we mostly liked & have changed those we didn't except for our home office. It currently has a green sorta sagey color, but it looks so dead. The room is off the foyer and has french doors. In our l.rm, foyer & up the stairs to second floor they used Devine paint "Oak", which I love. It's a yellow, mellowed down with some gold & or brown...really nice color.

Anyway, the office is dark. There is one window which faces east & the next house which is close to us (city life!) blocks much light getting into the room, & we don't get much even through the french doors off the foyer. SO, is it better to cocoon the room through a color that is deeper in tone or try to brighten it up? I had originally thought it needed to be brighter, but anything I've tried seems sort of too light or something. Our desk is cherry & we have a med. green family heirloom type chest in there & a really nice tropical type chair which has dark woven sides & back. Carpet is neutral.

One color I keep thinking of is Devine "Coast" which is a medium blue & then I think I'm crazy. Our painter likes SW paints, but we can have something color matched.

Thoughts???? Thank you...I am in paint sample overload & my DH thinks I'm over thinking this, which I probably am!!!
