please help with decorating family room! (photos attached)

We are stumped trying to come up with a nice furniture placement for the family room in our new house. We'll be purchasing all new pieces. Please, please can you guys give us any ideas on making a nice welcoming, comfortable space that takes advantage of the lake views, finds some place to have a TV (ideally a 42" LCD but we know we may have to scale down to a 32") and also maintains some flow with the kitchen area. Some of the issues we're dealing with are: we have only two full walls, and both of them have large windows, and the shorter wall that we have includes a door to a patio (swings inward, not a slider). We've played around with the idea of just biting the bullet and placing the TV along the wall on the right, in front of the smaller winder. (cringe) I've attached some photos below...

Photo #1 is of the view looking into the corner of the family room. It was taken standing in front of the kitchen island. We aren't crazy about the diagonal couches the current owners have used, or about having a tv floating in the corner. The couch to the left also is very close to the door that leads out onto a patio.

Photo #2 gives you an idea of the way the kitchen and breakfast nook flow into the family room space. The patio is just outside the window you see that is behind the breakfast table. The door leading outside is on the right hand side of that wall, around the corner to the right from where you see the cross hanging.

Photo #3 is the small outdoor patio to show you the size of the door (on the right) leading out to it.

Photos #4 and #5 are different views of the short wall with the door to the patio.

Photo #6 is the view of the wall directly across from the patio door...this window looks out onto the upstairs deck and is where we are considering placing the tv. You can see the current tv just to the left in the corner of the family room right now.

Again, any ideas on furniture placement would be greatly appreciated!
