The foreground is Benjamin Moore's Masada, and the water closet/toilet area is a shade or two darker, Benjamin Moore's Satchel (also Affinity collection).

I would also like to see more in the rust family

My living room is BM Mayflower Red; it's not exactly a true rust color, but it's not red either. I really wanted to try Audubon Russet, but I chickened out and went one shade up with a slightly more "traditional" shade.

very nice awm03, is the color hard to decorate around? And what other colors have you incorporated?

something from Lowe's?, but it was called Japanese Koi (sorry it's so big!).

Hi readerlearner, I'm just getting around to doing that room after concentrating on our home's exterior, so am still experimenting. Within the room, the color is easier to work with than I'd thought it would be. Straw yellow, golds, apricots, pinks, corals, yellow oranges, & purples look fresh and colorful; an autumn palette works too, of course; greens and blues work well, and various whites & woodtones (as in the picture) look very nice.

Trying to work out colors for the adjoining rooms is trickier, but think I've found a great combination that works in different seasons & lighting. Farrow & Ball Olive or Stone Ground for the foyer, and either F&B Fowler Pink or Red Earth or Book Room Red or a red of my own mixture using milk paint. Of the paints, I'd rather use milk paint as it has a life to it that just makes the walls sing. But the F&B paints have beautiful subtle undertones that are beyond my milk paint blends. So still deciding what to do :)

Whoops, not F&B Stone Ground. Should be F&B Stone White, which is a very pale olive with a gray undertone to my eye.

Hi awm03, I would love to see your room decorated. I love the color, but I am afraid it would be hard to decorate with. I would not have thought you could use pink or blue. Gosh good luck with picking the other rooms colors, picking paint colors is a tough one for me. Shoot picking colors period. I believe it is an art.

BM Dark Salmon (so hard to photograph though!) - was supposed to be our dining room but it became our music/sitting room.

I really like that, A R. So warm and inviting.

I painted the living room in my first house a muted terra cotta color ... had it for 10 yrs and never got tired of it.

Glad to see this old thread. I remember when GW had a "Gallery" board, and there were individual threads for specific colors. It was not only great eye-candy, but a great resource, too.

it's a little safer than a true red and picks up the rust colors in the rug. We like how it turned out. ☺
