colour help living room

I'm looking for advice for my living room. The room is 16x12 and the window is 9x6. You can see both the upstairs and downstairs hallways (its a bi level) and into part of the kitchen. I have a sloped ceiling towards the side with the stairs (it hits 12 feet high and its 16 feet long).
I was originally thinking BM Vellum, but second guessing myself it might be too bright on all those walls.
I'm having trouble making a decision and would love some other suggestions.
