I use a moisturizer with SPF30 on my face and neck in the morning, every day. If I am going to be outside in the sun for any length of time I will apply a higher strength SPF (usually SPF50) to any exposed skin before heading out, including the areas that got the moisturizer in the morning.

It is much more important to be sure you use enough sunscreen, use a broad spectrum sunscreen and reapply than worrying about before or after moisturizer, IMHO.

I would think it would be better to put it over your moisturizer. You want the moisturizer to soak into your skin. I know a chemical sunscreen will also soak in, but it just seems like using the moisturizer before and the sunscreen after is the way to go.

Shee, that is what I am doing now but somehow it doesnt make sense to me. Don't moisturizers leave a film on the skin to help keep moisture in so wont it also keep the sunscreen from being absorbed if applied on top of moisturizer?

Does the sunscreen need to be absorbed by the skin? I think of it as a barrier to the sun's rays. I don't know why it would need to be absorbed.

chemical sunscreens are absorbed, physical sunscreens lay on top of your skin is what I have been reading.
