OT: The Mind of a Man

I went grocery shopping this afternoon. The fridge is full. Protein, veggies, fruit, nuts, bread, cheese, chocolate, etc., etc.. I had just gotten it all put away when he announced he was going to the store. I said, OK, I forgot to get eggs.

He returned with 2 or 3 bags and announced, "I found something cute for you." Cute? Hmmmm.... A plant? Maybe a marked-down orchid or a mini-rose?

A few minutes later, he plopped a piping hot, microwaved Marie Callender single-serve cherry pie down on my desk. Accompanied by a highball of bourbon and water. Heavy on the bourbon. Bourbon goes so well with cherry pie. Who knew.

The man has a near-genius IQ and I can't understand a thing he does.

What a sweet surprise! Don't even try to figure it out. He's a genius in many ways, but y-chromosomes just don't think the way we do.

He will open the fridge door and stand there so long, you'll think he's in a coma. There's a ton of food, some prepared, some just waiting for a skillet. Finally, he'll close the door, turn and say, "What do you want to eat, Mexican, Chinese, Sweet Tomatoes....?" ......................Whaaaaaaaaaat?????

awm03, I know you're right, but sometimes I am just too speechless to say a simple 'thanks'.

I suppose it's when he stops bringing "cute things for you" you need to worry. I've never known a high IQ person who isn't a little "off".

Our grocery store sells single serving lemon/sour cream pies. And they are very cute. I buy them for my DH.

Mine does goofy things like that-not a cocktail tho, but he'll bring me presents every day-sometimes a special caramel, flowers, or lately-agates.

I'm learning to appreciate it. I'd rather he do the 60 billion things on my to-do list, but I need to learn that these gestures are from the heart. And that, ultimately, is the reason I fell in love with him in the first place.
