Kingspa Dallas, Chicago - first hand report?

I can tell that these are not zen type places, but with a large enough group one might be able to insulate from the throng. Is it a nice way to spend a morning and have lunch? Does it feel clean? If so, who wants to meet me in Niles?

I'm having a back problem and am accustomed to using exercising as a stress reliever, and I can't exercise, so I'm looking at this as sort of a wet ladies lunch excursion. I don't expect great things, but I'd like a pleasant lark.

Added later: well, I've been looking around for reviews, and according to a public radio (WBEZ) commentator, you go nude here in some of the areas. I'm probably coming off as a freak. Guess I should delete this post. Turning 60 has really made me not care about such things, but I can still remember what my reaction would have been some years back. Alas, the memory of modesty will likely fade, too.

Seriously? Not a chance for me! The Niles one is only about 30-40 minutes away but not a thing abut that review makes it sound appealing to me. I'm not a prude but the idea of hanging out with a bunch of nude strangers, spending the day, eating lunch, relaxing (?) where someone else sat - no thanks.

Wow. Didn't know such places existed. I checked around and there is a similar one in Centreville, VA.

Never mind the nudity (which I'm NOT doing) but even the idea of walking barefoot in a mall is not something I want to do. Athlete's foot, anyone? Yuck.

I'm also curious about the price of $25 for a massage and spa facilities where you *could* stay the night in a recliner??? Sounds like a bargain but it seems odd.

ETA - I checked the price list at the official site and each service is individually priced so the statement in the article is misleading.

I managed to leave the hospital without contracting anything last month after a four day stay, so I may be feeling overconfident about the state of my immune system as a result. Sort of. I did plan to go in the early hours of the day right after the cleaning, and not on a weekend. I even ate soup in a restaurant today!

I don't think I can get over the nudity thing, though. I'll have to call the Chicago location. I can't believe they make any money if they won't let you wear a suit.
