Height of taller bathroom vanities?

What is the "standard" height of the taller vanities? Is there a standard? I was thinking it was 36" but the guy who is making my new vanity suggests 34" plus the top. What do you recommend? This is a guest bathroom that rarely gets used but I like the taller vanities including the additional storage space.

I believe, like kitchen cabs/counters, the newer vanities would be 36" tall, with or including the countertop. When we had our bathroom vanities made (by a local guy), he suggested making them taller than what had been the older standard (31"?). I was unsure about doing this (I'm only 5'3"-5'4"), but I love it. Now, I hate having to lean further to use the bathroom when we are visiting my parents. It's so much more comfortable using our taller counters/sinks.
