Okay, I decided not to be a weenie and just cut the layers in half. Glad I did, I think the curd to cake ratio is perfect.

I'm sorry, I was away all weekend on girls weekend, sans ipad, and I did not see your message.

How was it! I still have some in my freezer - yummmmmm

It was the most lemony goodness ever! Once all the cake was passed out, the room was totally silent except for "wow" between bites!

I made the cake on a humid day so my egg whites weren't nearly as fluffy so it made the cake denser than it should have been but it was still very moist and light. Perfect summer time cake.

And by cutting the layers in half did you mean to slice the layers in half horizontally to make a 4 layer cake or to reduce the total volume by cutting the cake recipe in half?

Over the weekend I made the Angel Food cake mix crushed pineapple cake that was posted a little while ago and it was very disappointing. It was fine if you topped it with crushed strawberries and whipped cream.

A helpful hint (you may already know) when cutting a cake in half horizontally, use unflavored dental floss, much easier than a knife.

Yep, I cut the layers (yes Maire, to make four layers) with dental floss. I've always just used a large bread knife but the dental floss was way easier.
