Actually, tea tree oil is a pretty impressive antifungal and antibacterial substance, so if you're at all prone to athlete's foot or just plain stanky tootsies ;-) it's a VERY good thing to put into a foot soak. Essential oils should be added a single drop at a time and you don't even necessarily need to notice the scent for the substance to have an effect. (Remember that natural does not mean safe - use common sense, patch test new products, and keep everything out of the reach of children.)

50-50 is a good proportion for the salts, but you can play with the amounts until you get the "water texture" you like. Store in an airtight container. I've used salts dug out of the back of the cabinet that were easily a couple years old and since they were stored "airtight and outta sight" they were good as new. They do tend to clump somewhat over time, since they don't have the synthetic anti-caking agents that commercial products do, but they're still good, just smash up the clumps.
