What's your favorite music video?

At the risk of severely dating myself, my favorite is Take On Me by Aha. It just doesn't get better than this! And no surprise, it's my ringtone. :)

What's the one with Paul Simon and Chevy Chase? I can't remember! But I loved that one. Hilarious. Now I want to see it.

I Also love Take on Me. Great song.

Well, it should come as no surprise that one of my faves is by Def Leppard. When DH and I were first dating, this video was in heavy rotation on MTV. DH looked soooo much like Joe Elliott (lead singer)-and I looked like one of those girls in the audience-we were made for hair music!

This video so reminds me of my youth and the fun of rock concerts and dancing and all things good.

I don't have any serious choices but I do get a kick out of:

    Evolution of Mom Dancing
    and

    Belgian Train Station flashmob
    and

    Rolling Skating Babies

Oak-that would be my second choice. Slash's solo outside the chapel...ohhhh my.

Pesky, I was one lucky mom. When the boys were in high school, one was all GnR, while the other was Metallica. So I had both bands playing from their stereo's at the same time. lol

GnR were HOT. :) And Slash is the best guitarist alive, IMO. DH differs with me.

Man, there are so many from back in the day. Wall of Voodoo's "Mexican Radio"; Peter Gabriel's "Sledgehammer", among others.

But the one I watch all the time now, in the dawning of my dotage, is this beautiful Michael Kamen piece from the Canadian Brass. Allow me the indulgence. I
    m a French horn player ; )

Cheap Trick Dream Police!! I love these guys!

Robin Zander and Tom Petersson were smokin' hot here (really, they're still not bad at all!), plus awesome lyrics and music from Rick Nielsen.

They have not lost a thing. Robin's voice is incredibly amazing for someone his age. Bun E. Carlos has not been touring with them the past couple of years and Rick's son Daxx has played drums.

At the risk of dating myself, I'm not sure I've ever even seen an entire music video!

Anyone see where I put my 8 track??

    :)

Hhireno I love the Belgian Train Station flashmob too! ItâÂÂs just so happy!
Here is my all-time favorite that I could listen over and over every day. Sorry I posted this before but I love it!

Red Lover: That was "Call Me Al."

I haven't watched many music videos in a while, but because I'm such an Alan Rickman nut, it'd have to be the video he did a number of years ago with a band called Texas. The song was "In Demand," and in it he dances the tango with the band's lead singer. (Most Rickman fans love the way he "glides" across a stage -- any kind of stage -- so seeing him dance just about makes us swoon!)

This might sound a little "naughty", but the early 80's "Centerfold" by the J. Geils Band....
wellll you know.....a younger Faron in college, early 80's....siiiigghhh...;-)

Of course, the heavy "I love it Loud" by KISS is an anthem of mine!

I suggest you guys watch GS's Foo Fighter's video. OMG, it's great!

GS, the guy playing all the roles in the video, is he the lead singer? He should be on SNL. lol

  • gsciencechick

Yes, that's Dave Grohl! He is a pretty goofy guy like that. Plus, that is probably my favorite Foo Fighters song.

He was the drummer in Nirvana. Although he was a good drummer, clearly his talents were unleashed with the Foo Fighters. The first album he totally did by himsel, wrote every song and played every instrument. They're probably one of the few bands that can sell out arenas.

The did a club show here as part of Rock the Vote before the Democratic National Convention for only about 1,000 people. DH and I were lucky to get tickets for that. They played for 3.5 hours!

Thanks for reminding me of all those great videos. I love Cheap Trick! They come play at our county fair every few years, and just seem to still love performing. I can listen to I Want You To Want Me over and over. And Faron, I even like Centerfold ;)
Remember when MTV only played videos? I think the first video I saw on MTV was Adam Ant's Goody Two Shoes in 1982.

Pammy Fae--thank you. Can't believe I forgot the name.

Just watched it and it still made me laugh.

Annie--I had an 8 track retrofitted into my 72 Pinto, so we can't be that far apart :-)

    Terriks-
I actually worked at (set-up crew) a small concert with Cheap-Trick, who were touring with Saxon in the early 80's here in Fargo!!
My fave from them BY FAR is "Dream Police", and the ballad "The Flame".

Yes...."Centerfold" is a video I recall watching "a couple" of times!
"Love Stinks" & "Freeze-frame" were awesome too!

    Adam & the Ants....YESSSSS!!
    Loved "Antmusic" & "Goody-two-shoes"!!!!

Faron, that is so cool! DH would have loved that experience.

We have not seen CT for a couple of years. They did the big tour with Aerosmith last summer and didn't play here. They also do other dates such as casinos and festivals, and they weren't near us either. Last NYE 2011-2012 we could stream by PPV their concert, so that was probably our last "live" show with them.

This year's tour dates so far aren't near us either!

    Ummmmm-
To all you C-T fans, you might NOT wanna see who'll be opening for Motley-Crue on Thurs. nite July 18th, at Walker, MN...;-) !!!

Just 115 mi. East of Fargo, in beautiful Lakes'-country of MN!
It's the 22nd Moondance-Jam summer camping/concert festival. It's become quite the draw, especially the past decade. Two years ago, my best friend & I got 2 free tickets, and saw the Eddie-Money, Paul-Rogers, & KISS shows!!!

It is so hard for us to travel, argh.

BTW, Faron, DH said he saw that tour. Also Aldo Nova was on the bill with CT and Saxon, LOL. It was the One on One tour for CT.

    I also love The Offspring!

We are going with all of humanity to the Carolina Rebellion in May. We really want to see the 2nd day vs. the first. This is only about an hour from home.

This video, called "Return to Sender", was made by a college student on 16mm black & white film to the existing recording of Nick Drake's "Which Will", which didn't originally have a video clip. I love it.

haven't really watched many music videos since the early 80's on mtv... don't remember many either!! even tho i wasn't a michael jackson fan, i seem to remember some of his videos most(thriller, billy jean, etc)maybe they played them alot??? also remember a couple of genesis videos...(misunderstanding in particular)

my kids showed me one a couple of years ago which was very cool (don't know if it was FF) that had the band in protective clothes and googles and it was a whole series of ball/s (i think)going on a mousetrap like course and ended with colorful paint getting dumped on all of them... very clever... i don't have time to search for it, but does it ring a bell with anyone?? it's a worthwhile view!!

Although my personal favorite of OK Go is "Here it goes again," which for anyone whose ever used a treadmill, it is awesome. They did this in one take, so it is even more impressive.

    They are truly innovative!

After I saw the headline for this topic I realised I have never seen a music video except a Weird Al one my DD showed me a few months ago. We got rid of our TV when our oldest was in middle school, so the whole MTV thing just passed us by. I didn't know musical groups were still marketing with these!

Whoa, 58 years old and suddenly I'm having a very Amish moment :-)

I'm a music listener, not a music 'watcher' unless someone steers me to a specific video. I've been a Sia fan for years and her new video for Chandelier is mesmerizing - to me. And then there's one I saw recently..... can't recommend the music or the video, but I will say, it's interesting in a bizarre anthropological sort of way. What would someone from another place and time think of us after seeing this?

In my defense, I saw it from reading a Huff Post article!!

I'm not an Elton John fan, but the video for I'm Still Standing is my all-time favorite. It's so deliciously campy. I laugh every time I think of it.

    I like the song too.
