My Mother developed cellulitis and her doctor prescribed something like that to help with circulation and swelling. Perhaps when you doctor calls with further instructions you could ask for a specific recommendation.

I think these are "Sequential Compression Devices". They sell them all over the internet powered by a little battery pack.

As said above, though, I'd check with my physician for his/her recommendation when you get your call back.

My DW really liked those things when she had her surgery last March! For many, many years...she's had jumpy legs in the evening/in bed.

I'm curious, too, what types are available out there?

I've never heard of those, but they sound divine.
I have no idea how good they are, but I've seen zip up compression socks advertised on TV.

If you get the kind of compression stockings that have an open toe, you can put them on much more easily by putting your foot into a plastic grocery bag. Pull on the stocking up and on top of the bag, then pull the bag out through the open toe.
