If you like the colors, wear them. I can't speak from experience because I have always had a lot of color in my lips and still do at 62, so I never wear lipstick.

I'm not quite 50, but will chime in anyway. I love Mac lipsticks, they are creamy so can't think that they would be drying on any age lips. The colors are very saturated as well. In addition, they have a recycling program so if you save 6 used tubes (of lipsticks, liners, mascaras, etc) you can trade them in for a free one. They aren't super expensive, so just pick a color and try it out!

I haven't used them but young cousin wears dark lipstick and I noticed that hers really lasted, even after eating salads and such. She said she uses MAC....but didn't say which kind.

I'd like to add a 2nd question. If you are starting to develop dry lips with subtle lines due to age, is there a lipstick you like that doesn't exaggerate those lines?

Don't forget to exfoliate your lips and use a moisturizer. I use a mary kay lip exfoliator and other general exfoliators. You can make your own with sugar. I use coconut oil on my lips a few times a day. Drink water! Dryness starts inside.

No makeup (any area) looks good on dry skin. You need a good base.

I have "Twig" & "Teddy Bear" in my lipstick cache at this moment. TB is
more of a "nude" shade on my old lips (60+). I buy MAC or Channel as I
like the color of the lipstick tubes themselves (black).
