How to remove pencil from needlework

Posted by binka (My Page) on

I have just completed a cross-stitch pattern, and have noticed that my pencil lines are still visible. I do not know how to get rid of them- I've tried rubbing and washing with soap and even washing powder but it will not come out!!
Does anyone have any tips on how to remove it? It is in quite small corners and fiddly places too. I've heard that a putty rubber sometimes works. But any advice would be much appreciated.

Why are you putting pencil lines on the fabric, I have never done this.
