Custom cross-stitch patterns? Anyone heard of them?

I really need some help her. I've heard there is a computer program that allows a picture to be scanned and then it gives the cross-stitch directions so you can cross-stitch the picture.
I've been put in charge of cross-stitching our church symbol for the pulpit and am looking for this program. If anyone know's where to find this program or if you already have one please let me know.
Thanks

If you want to do detailed pictures then there is www.pcstitch.com and also pattern maker, www.hobbyware.com. You can get free trials at both sites. Personally I think pattern maker is better than PC stitch and worth the money plus there is an add on for pattern maker that will make the file into machine embroidery file. Mary!
