Newbie question about linen

Hello, I have instructions which say "2 strands of floss OVER 2 LINEN THREADS."

Does that mean if I am using 28 count linen, I will be stitching as if it is only 14 count?

I don't understand this--- can someone explain?

Thanks very much! (In the past I have used only Aida cloth.)

You have the right idea. It will be the size of 14 count Aida cloth. I have cross stitched quit a bit in the past but have been sewing lately. When I stitched on linen after stitching on aida I had to be careful to stitch over 2 threads. It is easy to drop back to one and mess up. You will get the rhythm. It makes a nice picture.
