another cookie contander

oddie

This is my take of the cookie tin a crafter named diana did and was posted here, love how she used another can for the top hat! Thank you diana for shareing your clever craft!

you all know I like useing coffee cans for crafts, a little wallpaper to cover the can, a peanut can for top hat, that opens to put in candy, or a small gift!

This goes to my brother who loves cookies and candy that I make, our family is so large we had to stop buying for each other but still I like to give them some small gift.

what you think

I love it. And I love the idea of making a gift rather than buying something that is usually not needed or appreciated. I know for me I have sometimes spent weeks or longer trying to find a "something" for someone that I felt I "needed" to give a gift to. In my old age I realize how crazy that is/was. Now I give lots of handmade/crafted things and baked goods in handpainted tins etc...and they are very well received. Everything has gotten so commercial and expensive. (stepping down from my soapbox now) I love gifts from the heart. Thanks for sharing.

I too love gifts from the heart and think anyone would be lucky to receive your snow guy with his hat filled with homemade goodies. Great idea!

Thank you! I love makeing contanders for gifts!doest take alot to do, and most are things we would throw away! have to save all the metal coffee cans I can cause maxwell house is changeing to the plastic contanders like flogers.
The can is not primed its wraped with a scrap of wallpapper, I did paint the bottom rim with regular paint, two buttons for the eyes the nose is 3d poster paint, blush on the cheeks and dimensional paint for mouth, hat was covered with sandpaper, the wallpaper was a green shade I painted white, if you want to paint on the can I would prim frist, made many without the wallpaper that was cute, but you have the ridges in the can showing.
    thanks for looking!

Yeah...I can finally post a pic of my tin cans! Mine are spray painted and my hubby rivited the top can to the bottom lid for me. I made a bunch thanks to Diana and filled them with cookies for gifts. These two are the only ones left and I think the cheeks are a little to dark. Just glad to be able to share and let you all know, that even those of us that can not regularly post pics, do appreciate your ideas!!

Gram, it is always fun to see your projects. Glad you were able to get some pics posted for us today.

Oddie always has great ideas to share, she is very creative. This project is on my To Do list from when Diana first shared them, but I still didn't get any made this Christmas. Congrats to you Oddie for actually getting one made--and I love your idea about using the wallpaper.

Oddie is right, better save the coffee tins now before they become obsolete! There were tons of tins of all shapes and sizes at the TS this year. Imagine any of them could be painted or covered with wallpaper like Oddie did.

how in the world did I miss this? ADORABLE!! Love it!! I can't wait to see how the bunny turns out. I bet you could find a pattern on line on making bunny ears or even buy them from a doll/bear making company. You could also do them with paper or fun foam.
    I can't wait!!

OMG! That bunny is sooo cute Oddie! You know I have a set of square stacked boxes stashed away somewhere in my craft room--got them for free and have had them for years and haven't done a thing with them. This might be a good project to use them for.

I think the round tins would work really nice to make these bunnies too, don't you?

For the ears, I'm seeing an old terry cloth towel and a piece of muslin sewn together then turned right side out and a little pink paint dry brushed on. Might want to bend one of those chenille stems or a piece of wire and insert it in the ear so you could "shape" them a bit. What do you think, would that work?

Now look what you've done! Made me add another project to my already too long "to do" list! LOL

    Thanks for sharing. Luvs

we have figured out what type of box ( any ) how to make the ears! love the terry cloth idea and have the rest of the supplies, I beleive it would add to the softness the rest of the box has, not to good with the paint so I might use a light blush on the inside of the ears, I want to make one right away but I have a project going right now, but am excited to try, made myself save the boxes and not make snowman out of them LOL! just knew something else would come along.
Ginger I am sure your ideas for ears would work also, might try the fun foam stuff for the ears insides have some in pink I think! dont like to sew if I can help it, and I do have some frabic stiffner. I am sure it wont be long till you see my bunnie box photos!
