Horse Apples, Witch Apples or Osage Orange Tree Things

I have followed and enjoyed all the wisdom and camaraderie on this forum for years. As it stands, I have a question to pose to you experts!

For an October 30th wedding in the back yard of her parents, I have collected in excess of 40 "horse apples."

How do I best preserve them for the next three weeks? The fall theme abounds of course...

Any thoughts from experience to share?
