Hi all..I found some gorgeous chestnuts (and huge) when out walking the other day. Anybody ever made anything with a chestnut?

I don't know, I'm sure you can do SOMETHING with them.

I have some still in the spiny thing that I threw in a pot with silk leaves, pine cones, acorns and some other "fall" items :)

Forgot...

I just remembered that a few years ago, DH found some neat looking chestnuts while out turkey hunting in the fall. He brought them home to show me and I put them up on a shelf. They dried up and shriveled over time. They hardened but didn't stay as big and nearly as smooth. That's something to think about...

Can't they get buggy or wormy, too?

RE: Chestnuts...

I've only fed them to the squirrels because they do shrivel up and get ugly.

Sue, do a website search for "chestnut crafts" and you'll come up with several pages of sites to look at.

yes, they do get buggy.....you could actually bake them and eat them..and there are several recipes for chestnuts......
you will find several ideas with a search
Sure wish I could just come across some!

I can send you some if you want Deb - don't know how many are left where I was the other day but I'd be happy to look if you tell me how many you are thinking of and where to send them...
