BISTRO awning for kitchen H E L P !

Looking for ideas to make a Bistro kitchen, striped awning, parisian chef statues, signs, etc.
I would like to know if anyone has made an awning for indoors & the steps involved.
I plan on painting pictures of french chefs on 4 of my cabinet doors & am looking for suggestions to make this an easier project than it will be. ( I saw a show on HGTV with a parisian kitchen that inspired me to do this) Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance. Lori

I'd probably try making a wooden cornice,or frame, for the window you want the awning on,and just staple hemmed fabric to it.I've seen very nice window treatments using old shutters used like awnings, too, that might fit your theme .You can probably find rub on paintings of chefs for your cabinet doors, or just make a simple stencil with a coloring book type picture.

Here is a link that might be useful: window treatments ideas
