The nursing home in my town makes simple door hangers for the holidays.I think they are craft foam cut into the shape of a large star, then they have wood dowels cut into 2 or 3 inch chunks for fire crackers attached with either wire or string and hanging from the bottom tips of the star. The center of the friecracker has a fuse. Seems to me the outer points of the star is where the half circle hanger is attached to hang it on the door.

Thank you! The crafts are for the residents to make. Many, of course, have arthritis problems, so things can't be too detailed. Open to suggestion for crafts for any time. My dear friend's daughter has recently been hired as a director at a home. This is her first job out of college, so she is looking for ideas. Thanks for taking the time to help!

Here is a cute site for simple patriotic crafts. Lots of printables too, including a bingo game card.

Or white lunch bags with handles that can be decorated with red/white/blue stars, tie a r/w/b ribbon on the handles and fill with inexpensive treats.
