I have seen this used on a few home improvment shows. There is the resin mix at our local hardware store. I have never seen it at a major store. But I have at Ace Hardware. Check there, it should take a few sets of it though. You mix the two bottles together then pour it over your bar. You have to have some sort of edge and it HAS to be leak proof. Good luck.

It is a 2 part epoxy mix.

I would do a 'test' first. The fabric patches will hold air and may cause bubbles in the epoxy.

You may want to photocopy the patches and use the copies instead of the original patches.

I have used the epoxy on a table top using the labels from wine bottles and it turned out great.

I have not done anything with fabric, but years ago did some small things with coins etc. Maybe you could mis a small quantity of the above mentioned mix and coat the patches and let them dry before putting them in the large area to be poured. Maddielee, do you think that would help?

thanks for the advice. We used the envirotec from Ace and it worked great. I coated the patches with a watered down coat of white glue, two coats actually. (the directions suggested doing that if you were using fabric. We will have to make another pour, those patches are thick, but we are pleased as punch with the first pour. This trash to treasure make over is turning out to be a little expensive though!!! Oh, but I do love those one of a kind items....and this one has so many memories.
