covering boxes with fabric

here's a question about covering boxes with fabric. if i use a shoe box, make a template with paper then use the template to cut the fabric, doesn't the fabric fray on the edges?

Depends on what type of fabric you are using Lauren. Go to a Joann's or other fabric store and ask the employees cutting the fabric for suggestions on what would work best for your creation. I'm sure they be happy to answer your questions.

I've never had a problem. Sometimes I use wonder-under on the fabric and iron it on to the boxes, sometimes I water down white glue and use that. You could probably use Mod Podge, too. Or liquid starch.

Or just put fray check on the edges if you have a raveling problem. Or use pinking shears when you cut the fabric out. LOTS of possibilities for you to pick from.
