My Ladies Auxiliary is planning a Hillbilly Night for a fund raiser. We're having a chicken & dumpling dinner, old fashioned pie supper, Hillbilly Band...etc. I need to make some little gag gifts but can't seem to remember anything except the hillbilly bubble bath (pinto beans in a little bag). I know there's a ton of them but just can't remember.

haha! The second I read this, I remembered the most ridiculous hill billy item my husband wanted to get for our house. It's a door mat, and since we live in an apartment, EVERYONE would see it. Might be perfect for your event. It sounds like a blast!

This Redneck website has lots of ideas. You'll have to look at everything. It's not a craft website. I think the Redneck toilet paper holder, windchimes, and weather station all have potential. I think this lawn chair would be funny. http://www.lilligren.com/Redneck/images/redneck_lawn_chair_repair_2.jp g Find an old frame and use duct tape for the webbing. This bottle opener might work. http://www.lilligren.com/Redneck/images/redneck_bottle_opener.jpg

I have a feelin these items may be too much for the womens club. lol
|
I've made many of these for guys' birthdays! Get the LONGER wooden paint stick at Home Depot-(the kind used in big pails of paint.) Drill a hole 1" from one end of the stick to run a piece of string, ribbon, etc. through it. Paint it all in one bold color..maybe the person's favorite team colors? Then on the one side-line up 5 beer bottle caps & hot glue them close together-down the stick..(starting about an inch from the end OPPOSITE of the hole at the other end.) On the other side of the stick, using acrylic paint (I like to use the white fabric dimensional paint)..print the words: "REDNECK BACK SCRATCHER"!

I LIKE it, but I like laughing! I carry the gag gifts only at the Christmas holidays - I carry so many it is a pain to take out and arrange weekly. Had one maybe two people offended, but it just makes me smile when I hear people laughing!!! Life's too short and smiles are good for the soul...

I bet the red solo cups look cute on the candlesticks. What do you call those? I would be afraid they would break easily. I keep thinking I should make myself a hillbilly wine glass for gardening. Love sipping wine and weeding on a summer evening! And a cover would be so handy - no spills and no bugs. Kathy
