Fingerpaints

My BIL made me 3-D wooden stars for each of my grandchildren. Each year we decorate one "point" and by the time they turn 24 the whole star will be done.

As they are 2 1/2 and 14 months, this year we did fingerpainting. My concern is colorfastness. I'm worried that over time the colors will fade.

Anyone have any ideas on treating the areas to hold the colors?

RE: Fingerpaints

I think I would take a scrap piece of the material the stars are made of and put some of the paint on it...after it is dry I would poly urethane it...That is usually really good at sealing things and preserving them from fading or flaking off. Try it on something other than your stars first to make sure it won't destroy the artwork that the kids did...I hope this helps :) ~Micki~
