Some lodge cast iron pots and pans would be one of my recommendations. Another is to purchase the Surlatable basic cookware line that is similar to all clad. Emerilware used to be really good but not any more. Also, shop TJ Maxx, and the sales at many o the kitchen supplies stores to see if you can get things cheaper.

I've actually been pleased with my cheap Ikea pans. Cheap enough for a cabin and induction-capable. Similar to All-Clad? Not really. But they do work well. Macy's carries a nice inexpensive line called "Belgique" that is quite pretty and a little heavier. I have some of those too and like them. (I have cheap induction cookware because I was planning to remodel and lose the induction cooktop and wasn't really serious about replacing my old pans at that point).

And I do love my cast iron. It feels rustic and would add to the atmosphere of the cabin!

How about all clad seconds. Still expensive but work just as well. This is what I use all the time and have never been disappointed with this compaqny.

I have All-Clad, and also some Cuisinart stainless. I picked up the Cuisinart stainless at TJ Maxx, I think...just pieces here and there. I'm very happy with both. But - I cook on gas. I use all kinds of pots - calphalon, stainless steel, enameled cast iron, cast iron, non-stick, whatever suits the task at hand.

I have also picked up pieces of all clad at Marshalls at really reasonable prices.

I just picked up Sir La Table stainless and really like it. They are having a sale now. Check their web-site.

Check out the Tramontina triply set online at Walmart. Very inexpensive and very good performance. This is what I chose for our beach place.
