New Bread Machine first use question

My wife recieved a Breadman Bread maker for Christmas. In the instructions it says "Before first use, operate on Rapid White Course program to burn off manufacturing oils. (Follow instructions in MAKING DOUGH & BAKING BREAD.

Of course in the instructions it does not say whether it is OK to run the bread maker dry, with no ingredients or to just toss the first loaf. I suspect they mean to run it dry thhe first time but I don't want to harm the machine by running it dry. What do you guys think?

I think I just ran a loaf of white bread to burn off the oils. Toss the bread and start using it!
